The Color of Compromise

In September Sherman Whitfield and Bob Grimm will facilitate a discussion on the book "The Color of Compromise" by Jemar Tisby. The book provides a detailed analysis of the White church’s involvement with African Americans from the time of slavery through today. The book can be purchased online. Please obtain your copy ahead of time. We will hold three discussions at ZUMC - October 1, 3, and 9. Our discussions will center on: 1. What the book causes the reader to “think" about 2. How the book makes one "feel" emotionally and 3. What one can “do" as a result of knowledge gleaned from the book to impact positive change in society. The hopeful outcome of the discussion series is to help participants to: 1). Understand the church’s historical role in racism; 2) Analyze how people of faith have helped or hindered racial justice; 3) Apply creative learning's to building racial unity that are pleasing to God.
